It was a star-studded opening to the CMA Awards Show last night as more than a dozen stars kicked off the telecast with a medley of some of country musicâs biggest hits, including: Vince Gill with Ben Haggard on âMama Triedâ; Roy Clark and Brad Paisley on âIâve Got a Tiger by the Tailâ; Carrie Underwood on âStand By Your Manâ; Charley Pride on âKiss an Angel Good Morningâ; Alabama on âMountain Musicâ; Charlie Daniels on âThe Devil Went Down to Georgiaâ; Reba McEntire on âFancyâ; Dwight Yoakam on âGuitars, Cadillacsâ; Clint Black on âKillinâ Timeâ; Ricky Skaggs on âCountry Boyâ; Alan Jackson on âDonât Rock the Jukeboxâ; and everyone onstage chimed in on Randy Travisâ âForever and Ever, Amen.â
But it was Randy, who suffered a debilitating stroke in 2013, stealing the show with a single word: âAmen.â Randy brought tears to the eyes of many in the arena who were already standing in appreciation of the new Country Music Hall of Fame member.
