Recently marching band numbers have declined and Texas Christian University is offering $3,000-a-year incentive to grown the marching band membership. “You can earn $12,000 over four years, is how we pitch it,” band director Brian Youngblood told the Star-Telegram. Each full-time student in the marching band would receive a $3,000 award for completing a full semester, plus the football bowl game.

TCU Magazine, the reward, designed to draw non-music majors. TCU’s band is smaller than its rivals: Texas Tech’s band is around 400 in size, while Baylor and the University of Texas stand at around 300. TCU marching band is about 235 members.
"Rolling out that $3,000 is enticing," said senior drum major Jacob Collins.
