Fort Worth Main Street Will Close as Panther Island Builds New Bridge

Starting at 3 a.m. Saturday, North Main Street will be closed in both directions between Northeast Seventh and 11th streets.

Why?  Work will begin for a new bridge for the $1 Billion project at Panther Island.   The bridge will be similar to the Riverwalk in San Antonio including a walk able bridge to downtown Fort Worth.

The Panther Island project will finally start to take off after years of delays. Could it become the next The San Antonio River Walk?

The new island would include a town lake and cover 800 acres over a new mega-neighborhood.    The closure of the four-block stretch of North Main Street is expected to last until some time in 2020, officials said.
