Something completely different instead of opening the show with a monologue or some skit — Jason Aldean was on stage at the Route 91 Harvest Festival last Sunday night  and he gave an emotional speech at SNL

 “This week we witnessed one of the worst tragedies in American History, like everyone I’m struggling to understand what happened that night”    and he continued speaking about America’s spirit is unbreakable  . . . then sang Tom Petty’s song  “I Won’t Back Down”    as a musical Tribute to Tom Petty who died Oct 2nd
