A Japanese company, Piala, which is a Tokyo-based marketing firm, is giving non-smoking employees six additional paid days off a year to balance for the smoke breaks taken by smokers on staff.  The Company said non-smokers have complained about the cigarette breaks taken by employees who had to leave the office from the 29th floor to the smoking section in the basement.   Resentment was growing in the office and the company came up with the solution. give non-smokers extra paid time off.     Non-smoking workers complained that the smokers often worked less because of the cigarette breaks they took throughout the day.
