Jo Dee Messina was diagnosed with cancer last year, saying she’s doing much better and the song is about going from a very dark place and coming back after intense struggles.
The lyrics speak of “waves crashing in” and “darkness surrounding,” In her own words: “In the summer of 2017, I was facing struggles with my health, personal life and finances. It seemed like everything was crashing in around me.”
