Patrick Stewart is back for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard in a new series of Star Trek set to air on CBS All Access. It was announced on Saturday during a fan convention in Las Vegas on Saturday. More than 20 years after Star Trek: The Next Generation ended, the new show will focus on the “next chapter” for the Captain and the Starship Enterprise.
Statement from Patrick Stewart:
“I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course. An unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out a new life for him, when I thought that life was over.”
The new series will air on CBS All Access and focus on the "next chapter" of Picard's life.
