Top 30 Things You Will Regret As You Get Older

 

1.   Not traveling when you had the chance.   Live life and explore.  Don’t regret expanding your horizons.

 

2.    Not learning another language.   Give you brain a boost by learning another language and maybe open up more job opportunities.

 

3.    Staying in a bad relationship.   Sadly, some stay way too long. Cut your losses and move on quickly!

 

4.   Missing the chance to see your favorite musicians.  Every year we lose great artists and you might say “I’ll catch them next time”,  but there is never a ‘next time’.

 

5.   Being scared to do things.  Looking back you’ll think, What was I so afraid of?

 

6.   Failing to make physical fitness a priority.   You don’t have to run a marathon, but walk, stretch, move. Exercise improves your mental and physical body.

 

7.   Not quitting a terrible job.   We all have financial responsibilities. Find ways to improve your skills because when you know better you can do better.

 

8.   Not trying harder in school.   Education does make a difference and it’s never to late to learn. You can gain more knowledge in your field or learn a new one.

 

9.  Not realizing how beautiful you were.  Youth follows trends and what is defined as beautiful, Don’t spend your 20’s thinking you are not beautiful, you are.

 

10.   Being afraid to say “I love you.”    Don’t let the fear of not having it said back keep you from saying those three little words.  You never know when or if you get the chance again.   .

 

11.   Not listening to your parents’ advice.  Your parents know much more than you think, they have more life experience so, listen and learn.

 

12.    Spending your youth self-absorbed.  You’ll be embarrassed about it, frankly.

 

13.   Caring too much about what other people think.   Don’t waste precious time on somebody’s opinion of you.  In 20 years you won’t care what they said about you.

 

14.   Supporting others’ dreams over your own.  We have to strive for our own success however don’t forget there might be someone close to you who wants you to support their success.

 

15.    Holding grudges, especially with those you love.  Grudges are a time waster, they don’t help you heal.  Honestly, why re-live the anger?

 

16.   Not standing up for yourself.   Sometimes we wished we could take back things we have said but regret the things we didn’t say.  As you get older your tolerance for bullies will grown thin.

 

17   Not volunteering enough.   There is nothing better than helping someone who may never pay you back. Give, donate, volunteer when you can.

 

18.   Neglecting your teeth.    Brush. Floss. Get regular checkups.  It doesn’t seem like a big deal but it is,  especially as you get older.

 

19.  Missing the chance to ask your grandparents questions before they die.  Grandparents are a great source of history, and knowledge you will later regret not learning from.

 

20.   Working too much.   40 hour a week jobs take up a big part of your time. Know when to leave work at work.  So many people carry that stress and frustration into their home life.

 

21.   Not learning how to cook one awesome meal.   Whether you love to cook or not.  Have one meal that you can prepare well.

 

22.   Failing to finish what you start.    Where did you go off track such as  “I had big dreams of becoming a nurse.   I even signed up for the classes, but then…”

 

23.   Refusing to let friendships run their course.   It’s quite simple sometimes friends like relationships just don’t work any more,  People grow apart.  When it’s time just let it go.

 

24.   Not playing with your kids enough.   You will never get the time back especially in those early development years,  Playing, Learning and taking time is worth every minute you spend.  .

 

25.  Never taking a big risk.   You have to believe in yourself,  Playing it safe is not always the right thing to do, your biggest success could be on the other side of your biggest risk.

 

26.   Not taking the time to develop contacts and network.   Opportunities, Networking are critical in business, developing contacts matter.

 

27.   Worrying too much.   As Tom Petty sang, “Most things I worry about never happen anyway.”

 

28.    Getting caught up in needless drama.  Who needs it?  As you get older you don’t want drama around you at all.

 

29.   Not spending enough time with loved ones.   No one is immortal and time can never be replaced so make it count.
