Jerry Jones Honors Tom Landry During His Speech at the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Jones bought the Cowboys in 1989 for $140 million, at the time the team was losing about $1 million per month. Jerry Jones took on the roles of Owner, President and General Manager and he has turned the Cowboys into a team that is now the NFL’s most valuable at $4.2 billion.  Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones gave a powerful speech during the Pro Football Hall of Fame and to much surprise he talked about Tom Landry.

“He was an icon,” Jones said of Landry. “He was and he still is, his son is sitting right here, he is the Dallas Cowboys. I honor coach Landry. I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for Tom Landry, Tex Schramm and Gil Brandt, who is sitting in the audience.  “I couldn’t have built the Cowboys today if it weren’t for what they did, the shoulders I stood on. I’m deeply indebted to those three.”
