New Law signed into California AB485 will now require pet stores to sell pets from shelters! In an effort to stop puppy mills this new law will begin 2019 that all pet store owners in California will be no longer be able to sell animals from so-called puppy mills. The new law will require pet store owners to sell dogs, cats and rabbits from shelters, rescue groups and shelters with violators facing a $500 fine. Thirty-six cities, including Los Angeles and San Francisco, already have similar bans. More Story: HERE
“The problem is puppy mills, and this law is specifically targeting shutting down and not supporting puppies being manufactured in unsafe, unsociable, and horrific conditions,” Elena Bicker, executive director at Animal Rescue Foundation, told ABC News.
