Texas Woman Suffers ‘Broken Heart Syndrome’ After Her dog Dies

The condition can imitate symptoms of a heart attack, and can cause stress on the heart.  Joanie Simpson, 62,  was suffering from a broken heart after the death of her beloved Yorkshire terrier Meha was told that the condition can be triggered by traumatic events in life,  the woman lived alone, and her dog was her family.  Reported that the condition is most common in women ages 58 to 75.  The case was recently examined by the New England Journal of Medicine, who reviewed what is called Takotsubo cardiomyopathy.

Houston woman who lost her Yorkie ended up in a hospital and was diagnosed with Takotsubo cardiomyopathy, commonly known as broken-heart syndrome.
