George Harvey Strait (born May 18, 1952) in Poteet, Texas  He grew up in Frio County.  He eloped with his high school sweetheart, Norma, the couple married in Mexico December 4, 1971 and still married 46 years later.  In 1971 George enlisted in the Army.  after the Army, he enrolled at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos and graduated with degree in agriculture.   Strait first music success was in 1981 with  his first single “Unwound”.
