Schools will dismiss students at 1pm Tue & Wed, also the school district says all after-school activities including athletic programs and professional development sessions are canceled for those days. Temperatures hit 92 degrees on Monday and are expected to rise to 95 on Tuesday and Wednesday. Philadelphia Federation of Teachers president Jerry Jordan said “The vast majority of our schools are not air-conditioned.”

Due to the high temperatures forecasted, all School District of Philadelphia schools will dismiss students on Tuesday, August 28 and Wednesday, August 29 at 1 p.m. School-based employees are expected to work their normal work day.
